Fraud protection

Radar vets every new affiliate against the 200,000+ already on Tolt, then checks every referral before payout. Self-referrals, duplicate IPs, paid ads and banned keywords are caught, and anything suspicious waits for your call.

Affiliate screening

Fraud often starts before the first referral, with someone who has gamed a program before. When an affiliate applies to yours, Radar checks them against the affiliates across Tolt and flags anyone already caught elsewhere, with the reasons.

  • Checked when they applyEvery application is screened the moment it comes in, before you or auto-approval let anyone in.
  • Known abusers, flaggedPartners caught self-referring or leaking coupons in other programs show up flagged, with the reasons.
  • Turned away in one clickDecline them before their first click, or let them in and Radar keeps checking every referral.

What Radar catches

Self-referrals

A partner buying through their own link earns nothing: matching emails are caught.

Paid and social ads

No commission from Google, Bing or YouTube ads, or from Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit and X.

Link keywords

Words like coupon or discount in a link stop the commission, so coupon sites can’t cash in.

Duplicate IPs

Sign-ups from one IP, and partners running several accounts, are flagged for review.

The review queue

Radar holds what it flags and shows you why. Everything else pays out on schedule.

  • Held before payoutFlagged commissions wait for your decision instead of going out with the payout run.
  • The why, side by sideEvery flag shows its signals: the matching email, the ad click, the shared IP.
  • Refunds take it backA refunded payment pulls its commission back, and a cancellation stops future ones.

Protection

Self-referrals, ad abuse and payouts to the wrong people are all preventable. Tolt guards every affiliate, referral and payout against them, and keeps your account to your team.

Fraud FAQ

Tolt Radar

01What does Tolt Radar catch?

Self‑referrals, where a partner buys through their own link; duplicate IPs and multi‑accounting; clicks from paid ads and social ads; banned keywords in affiliate links; and sign‑ups from countries you block.

  • Self-referrals
  • Duplicate IPs
  • Paid ads
  • Social ads
  • Link keywords
  • Countries
02Does Tolt check affiliates before they join?

Yes. When someone applies to your program, Radar checks them against the 200,000+ partners on Tolt and flags anyone already caught gaming another program, with the reasons, so you can turn them away before they get a link.

200,000+Affiliates every applicant is checked against
03Does Radar block commissions or hold them?

Both. Rules you switch on stop a commission from being earned at all, and anything suspicious is held for your review before payout, so you approve or reject it first.

04What is an affiliate’s risk score?

Every partner gets a risk level from their activity, so the ones worth a closer look stand out in your review queue, with the signals behind each flag.

Your rules

05Can affiliates still run ads?

Your call. Block commissions from Google, Bing or YouTube ads, and from Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit or X, or leave any of them open. You can change it any time.

06What are blocked link keywords?

Words you don’t allow in affiliate link parameters, like coupon or discount, so links can’t be reworked for coupon sites. You can block up to 50.

  • coupon
  • discount
  • promo
07Can I keep out sign-ups from some countries?

Yes. Block partners from countries you don’t serve, and the spam sign‑ups stop before they ever reach your program.

Payments

08What happens when a referred customer refunds?

When a payment is refunded, its commission is taken back from the partner. When a subscription is cancelled, Tolt stops calculating commission on it.

09Does it hold up at scale?

At HeyReach, with close to 3,000 partners, Tolt has identified 300 self‑referrals, rejected more than 400 suspicious commissions and reviewed over $100,000 in associated revenue.
